I am with Farooq.
We are reading your blog.
You are an interesting fellow.
We pray that you find a Jamaican sister with a wicked cool accent and dreads in her hair. :|

I am worried for this whole Islamic Chair business :(.
Would be nice if we could get Dr. Tariq Ramadan or something eh? :P

they were at the meditation room yesterday. i...just found them online too, except the pdf is not a very high resolution so the picture is not very good. as in my face is blotchy.
however. i am not quite sure what the point of having a few muslim students on the cover of the brochure actually is? "we at the u of a are establishing a chair of islamic studies, this is why we are picturing young and smiling brown (white, black) people on our brochure"?
you should have come to watch the end of the hugo chavez movie after msa dinner, it was quite powerful, i want to be a chavista.
i'm not ready to fully endorse tariq ramadan.

wa 'alaykumussalam;
it is essentially the u of a and the ecmc deciding we want a chair of islamic studies, to promote studies on islam.
for some reason they wanted muslims on the front cover of their brochure, and so tokenism came into play (a black muslim, a white muslim, a few brown muslims, etc).

this though makes me kind of nervous, whoever fills the post needs to be responsible and not an ideological sellout, else i will be deep in sorrow.
