and then our exile

modern'ty is so ugly. so incredibly ugly.

martin lings wrote, as he drifted from christianity, of how his heart held nostalgia for past ages. and since his time how much more has been lost, we who live in these days of terror and futile concerns. we don't even know, anymore, what it is we've lost.

this is probably screaming 'traditionalism!!!!' by now. but no, i think it is wider than that, i know even non-organized-religion people who recognize modern culture is rotten.

edit: bloody flipping hell.
& "ethics training" for US soldiers so they know not to kill people.
if i had time i'd try to comment on hooper's senate speech. it's actually quite interesting, the assumptions he makes and the conclusions he draws.
lastly, iraq, people killed for wearing shorts(?). which sickens me. murtada responded - "well - it's iraq - if people are killed for wearing shorts i'm sure there'll be places where they're killed for not wearing them." the point is that it is chaos, absolute. (i wore shorts today, for outside-work.)(hanafi shorts.)

edit2, and yes this isn't exactly in line with the previous topic, folkfest-wise i'm interested in hawksley w*rkman and linda r*nstadt as well of course as the cockburn. and why is the name sarah h*rmer familiar? probably ckua? ..something. anyhow, the problem is they are spaced out on different days.

nothing but the dead and dying back in my little town

wasalam\\ thank you :)

you're right, i should take this more seriously..i'm still (yes, two and a half years in)(that long?!) caught between what i'm trying to say on here, who i'm saying it to, questions like these. once i've got these sorted out i may backtrack and expand..

ps. i've been lurking on your site for a while. a favourite: "vicissitudes of the heart".
