i don't want to get into the whole discussion of whether protests, marches, etc are a beneficial use of time.

murtada - he'd be worried. but i think...protests, marches, vigils - these are just the outer forms of a movement, and that's what i'm worried about, that because the backup consciousness/ awareness/ commitment ISN'T there, that harper & co. know they can ignore us. so if, because that critical mass isn't there, protests like these are doomed to being ineffectual.. *are* they the best use of time? a few years ago when i was more involved in ECAWAR i went from protest to march to protest again, but because the backup movement-building wasn't there, it wasn't sustainable...
these are jumbled thoughts i still need to work through.

maliha - there's so much more i need to write about, writing it off as rabid patriotism is kind of superficial on my part. i just need to make the time. :/

May Allah guide us all to thoughts of peace. When war begins, Satan rejoices.

Salaams

I wonder if he truly would be worried. Polls seem to show a great discrepancy between Harper's stand and the general public.

"The CTV-Globe and Mail poll shows 77% want him to be neutral on the conflict.

A full 45% disagree with his support of Israel's actions and another 23% didn't offer an opinion."

Harper recently remarked that basically stated that government actions would not be determined by the polls. I wonder if he knows what votes are...

You are definitely right about the whole background movement thing though. Still...Marches and rallies are good places to develop movements and contacts. You writing letters yet?

And by the way...what's the word on your trip to the T.O.?

tws - they're a good place to begin developing movements...but need followup, buildup. hm.
