Notes [individual various] part two.

Inside, I got lost
In the mirror-palace of enormity.
Outside, I faced alone
The wolves and biting snow.
Alone, I am fixed
To the threshold, an arm through each window.
One facing out
The other looking in.

Two ways of counting stars:
1
Pinpoints of light are scattered
All throughout this surprise—
I examine them with my fingertips,
Protective of their quiet, their
Contours of radiation

Methodical mind schooled in the
Ways of calculus turns its
Attention to these droplets of silver.

With precision, each is categorized
And systematically ripped from virginity
In the ways of modern science.

Stares up at an uncomprehending night sky.

Pumpkins, garish in the late autumn leaf,
But it alone is alone, freed from the
Exhaust of meaningless poison and yet
Tired of the endless solitaire.

bundled into a car, driven off into the night
another is gone, eloped with the age of his dream
--or is it not? A mind confused, bewildered by the
ushering in of new terms…
at any rate, we are left here and you.

Unwanted images cloud clarity…how to work
When your face is before me?
Unthinkable, I tell you, unthinkable!
At any rate, he wouldn’t allow it in the first place.
Just relax, enjoy the show.
