and then our exile

One thing I am unhappy with is the way this glob has the tendency to supersede the Black Book. I contemplate taking decisive action. As I do so, though, I type.

"On a clear and blessed night / Jibra'eel came to Hira..."

Seriously, people have no idea whatsoever about the meaning of 'success'. Last night I went to the "achievement recognition night" for EPSB-district students, where I heard trustees go on, and on, and on about how great their own district was. And then specifically about a number of people--one thing that gets me, though, is that all three of the people who actually got moneys [as in, the top of the top] were all female. And they get sent places--one person to the Amazon rainforest for some project she was doing, and so on. ^_^ Anyways. I *did* mean to hunt up Rm.190 or 290 or 109 or whatever, that i too might enter the cult, as well as to scan grad pictures inhabiting the halls, to search out people i knew, but was rushed in late and rushed away early, so had no chance.. the best part of the evening was perhaps Haydn's allegro moderato...but even in that, the flute jarred against the piano.
but: i *can* say it was interesting. and showed me again how closely the school system is interconnected with money. The person representing the MofL himself said it, straight out: the purpose of our system is to produce economically independent functioning members of society. And that I do not understand--learning for the sake of learning? Being interested in life? Personal advancement? Expanding horizons? producing young people firm upon principles and values? or this "economically independent"?
*well*.

you know those days that you have to brush your teeth and put on fresh clothes and take a shower to greet? every colour of the world precise and distinct.

Between Dhohr and 'Asr, this Sunday, Babaji gives a sequel-talk at the Markaz. Do come.
