and then our exile

This morning, too, I watched a clip from the rihla--a session of...diwan, i think it was? Correct me if I'm wrong. But, it gave me goosebumps--one of the haba'ib of Tarim was there. As of then, I decided to inshaAllah forego the strategic location Damascus enjoys, and head for Hadramaut--a region which has produced scholars such as Imam al-Haddad!
Afterwards, when I returned to the world of strife, I realized that that is no real reason--Central Asia "produced" many, many greats, and where is it now? Women in miniskirts and long leather coats walk the streets of Tashkent [at "work"] while men lie on sidewalks drunk at ten o'clock in the morning.
The state of the ummah is frightening, when you look at it that way.

I am also thinking perhaps prematurely of all the things I wish to do in my year off. Bus tickets are cheap, and easy to get around in, so I'm thinking--possibly leave a month in advance, and do the Palestine-Syria circuit before going to Yemen? and, I'd really want to visit Iraq too [I SPEAK OF THE COUNTRY, MUNTAKA, NOT THE PERSON], just to actually know...

But, now, I go, to math. The Earth is a darkened homogenized mass, while stars shine clear and bright above. Wasalam.
ps--is it just me, or does the ad above switch between tony blair and "find muslim singles near you"? for some reason, both strike me as hilarious, at the moment.
