and then our exile

went to kahane's lecture thursday with two questions i've been trying to work through for a while. no answers, of course, and i have three essays to write in nine days (plantation complex, due last wednesday; rawls' distributive justice, due this coming friday; henry iv, due next monday), and six powerpoints to perfect by tuesday, and other things.
- how much of our lifestyles /can/ we justify?
- if we tell ourselves we want change, can we coherently do so from /within/ the system? (whether i drive to volunteer at a soup kitchen or to buy things from the sh.pk mall, i'm /still/ driving, still using gas, still contributing to injustice...)
the questions seem small but they are difficult.
first term almost over. this i cannot believe, among other things.
so many times, it happens too fast
you change your passion for glory
don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
you must fight just to keep them alive
