Th[e] symbolism [of my generation] was not supposed to be connected to any established and well-recognized tradition, but its worth lay in its anchorage in a personal mythology of such complexity that it should not be accessible to anyone save a few. The greater the complexity, better the expression, the unwritten code told us.

It is through restoring justice that we can create societies in which peace can prevail as a natural order and it is through justice that we can attain that inner balance of existence which allows the flowering of the heart. Until this is attained in any substantial manner, the poet and the writer and the artist must not rest. It is the calling of their vocation; it is the very raison d'etre of their existence.
