and then our exile

Friday, September 01, 2006 at 11:12 p.m.

this was the year to go to ISNA, f t and j all in the area. instead though i have a math question - if our bodies are two-thirds water, and i clock in at 155lbs, that's a lot of zamzam i've still got to drink before we leave, to replace that water and thus baraka-surf with the best.

in other news, the sacred web conference fee is now down to - gape at it - $10/day. ! as opposed to the hundreds of dollars it was earlier. so i know what i'm doing that weekend.

four more days till the long flights homeward.

Crude Translation:
"Zamzam water is for what it was drunk for"
[Narrated by Ibn Maajah]

So akhee, it is not about quantity, but rather your intention and faith. So if you drink Zamzam so that you get cured, it is only so long as you believe that Allah - subhaanahu wa ta3aala - will cure you by drinking Zamzam, then will Allah answer your supplication. If you don't have faith that Allah can cure you via this blessed water, then there is no use drinking it. In other words, have Husn Al-Thann billah (which is unshakable yaqeen actually) when drinking Zamzam, and making du'a in general.

Please remember me in your du'a while you are over there. And tell Zacharia and Faarooq to do the same.

Assalaamu 3alaikum.

i think you should drink 50L, b/c:

b's mass (b) = 155 lbs.
mass of water b is composed of (bw) = 0.67b = 103 lbs / (2.2 lbs/kg) = 46.97 kg
density of water at 4 degrees celsius and standard atmospheric pressure = 1.00 g/mL = 1.00 kg/L; so...
46.97 kg = 46.97 L

so you should drink about 50 L, assuming, of course, that you're at standard atmospheric pressure and 4 degrees celsius. Barak Allah feek :)

Assalamu 3alaikum,

I don't think his stomach can accommodate 50L. And even if it did, he should only drink 1/3 according to the Sunnah, meaning 16.67 L. :)

Please keep me in your du'a.

Assalamu 3alaikum.

One drop is enough to drink with sincerity and love. If those are absent, an ocean would not suffice.

Actually, ive heard that the prophet, peace be upon him, used to drink zam zam until he felt it would come out of his mouth. and then pray two rukuah (thats in hajj though).

but i say drink man, drink.
